the holidays; the fourth of July was one of his favorites. He always had
a knack for starting projects and almost finishing them. He liked to can

Richard Crary Portman was born June 7, 1947, in Nelson, to Richard Sr. and Berneta (Walburn) Portman. In July 1970,
Rich married Chris Williamson and to that union two children were born. In 1984 Rich moved to Columbus to be a recruiter for the
Army National Guard. On June 11, 1988, he married Patty (Hladik) Shunk, the woman he adored and cherished for 22 years. In 1994 he
retired from the Army National Guard. He then worked in sales until 2004 when he became a self-employed contractor.
Rich loved sharing time with his family and friends, but especially his three grandchildren. He enjoyed boating, fishing and Husker
football. Rich’s kindness and incredible smile and laugh will be missed by everyone who knew him. |

Jane died in 1996 after a long course
of idiopathic lung disease. She continued to teach even while her energy

Les received a degree in Drafting Technology from the Nebraska Vocational Tech School.
He served in the United States Navy in the
Reserves from 1964 until 1971, and served active enlistment during the Vietnam War from 1967 until 1968. Les began his working career at Lincoln Steel
as a draftsman. Later he became a partner in National Detail building large steel buildings worldwide. Les married Yvonne Splain and had daughter Amy.
In April of 1999 he married Connie Kingery. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Lincoln and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his
wife Connie, three children Amy, Shawn, and Angela and seven grandchildren. |

(Dunbar) died Sunday Oct 29 at her home after a long illness. Mrs Zuelow
was born Aug 12, 1948 in Lincoln to Robert and Nadine Beezley Dunbar and
graduated from Northeast. She received her bachelor of science degree in
elementary education from the University of Nebraska and did graduate
work at Kearney State College.
She married Terry Zuelow on June
1, 1971. She taught at Central City and Cozad. She worked from 1974-80
in an independent paint contracting business in Grand Island. She also
worked from 1975-1983 at Miller and Paine. In 1986 she established the
Sunshine Cleaning Company and in March of 1987 until her death she was a
sales associate at Appleby's.
She is survived by two children,
Kara and Ryan, both at home, her mother Nadine Dunbar and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her father. |
