Tom Newell inducted into the LNHS
Athletic Hall of Fame on Feb 9th.

The Rocket football teams of
1962-1964 allowed an average of less than five points per game
and had 14 shutouts in the 27 games they played during those
years. That is the kind of trivia you can learn about Rocket
athletics as you visit with Tom. Tom became an avid Northeast
fan as a 9th grader in 1961. He attended almost every contest
while in high school, despite having to depend on rides from his
dad a riding the bus. (continued) |

Tom
Newell (Cont.) |
The only active role he took in high
school was to help Claire Fredstrom with the intramural
program. Later he was the scorekeeper for AAA softball games
at Ballard. But his passion for watching the Rockets never
waned. He worked for Fairmont Foods from 1966-1979 and Meadow
Gold from 1979-2005. Tom lives with his mother, Ardeen, and
two dogs and a cat in northeast Lincoln.
Hey, Go Tom!
